2010 Cape Cod Irish Summerfest
Our first Irish Summerfest was a great beginning to what hopes to be an annual event. 1,162 people attended the event!! A special thank you goes out to the Summerfest committee members, sponsors, volunteers, vendors, entertainers, the Melody Tent and even Mother Nature for making the day a success. Plans are already underway for next year's festival!!
SOECC Night at the Y-D Red Sox
Thursday night, July 29th is Sons of Erin Cape Cod night at the Y-D Red Sox. Jay and Lisa Collett's Grandson, Harrison will be throwing out the first pitch. Harrison is 7 years old and was diagnosed in April of 2009 with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer that mostly strikes adolescent boys. Harry went through a very diffucult surgery that involved removing his thigh bone, and inserting large metal plates and 12 screws to help stabilize the graft. He has also completed 28 courses of chemotherapy and 55 sessions of radiation. There were some very diffucult infections to overcome and a myriad of problems to deal with associated with treatment. The good news is that he is doing well and had returned to school in the spring. Harry is still in physical therapy at the Jimmy Fund in Boston and has monthly and sometimes weekly Dr's appointments, but has been an extremely brave little boy throughout.
